David Sánchez, an international composer and conductor and brother of Spain's Prime Minister, has been banned from public office for nine years after being found guilty of administrative misconduct. The Guardian reports the conviction relates to his hiring by a socialist-led council in Extremadura roughly nine years ago. The case is part of a broader set of corruption allegations involving members of the prime minister's family and government, prompting opposition calls for a snap general election.
