Russian forces hit two more cargo ships off Odesa, killing a captain and injuring three crew members
world
Russian forces struck two more merchant ships traveling the Black Sea maritime corridor near Odesa, killing one ship's captain and injuring three crew members. Meduza reports that the vessels were flying the flags of Tanzania and Liberia, and that eleven crew members were brought ashore. Russia's Defense Ministry said its drones hit dry cargo ships anchored off the port, claiming the vessels had been used in the interests of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The strikes follow a series of recent attacks on merchant crews in the region, including a July thirteenth shelling of port infrastructure in Chornomorsk that killed five crew members aboard a Togo-flagged ship.
