One person dead and two missing after boat sinks near San Francisco’s Alcatraz Island

A pontoon boat sank near San Francisco's Alcatraz Island on Tuesday, leaving one person dead, two others missing, and sixteen rescued. According to The Guardian, nineteen people were aboard the vessel when it went down about six hundred yards from the famous former-prison tourist attraction. Of those pulled from the water, thirteen made it safely to shore, while three were taken to a San Francisco hospital for treatment. City officials, including Mayor Daniel Lurie, described the incident at a press conference.
