Florida executes one of its oldest prisoners in state’s 10th lethal injection this year
politics
Florida has carried out one of the oldest executions in its history, The Guardian reports. The state put to death Dennis Sochor, a seventy-four-year-old convicted murderer, on Tuesday, marking Florida's tenth lethal injection this year in what the paper calls the nation's busiest death penalty state. Sochor was pronounced dead at sixteen minutes past six in the evening after a three-drug injection at Florida State Prison near Starke. He had been convicted of killing Patricia Gifford on New Year's Day of nineteen eighty-two, just hours after meeting the eighteen-year-old at a New Year's Eve party. He was one of three older prisoners scheduled for execution within the span of a single month.
