Former Labor leader Bill Shorten, now vice-chancellor of the University of Canberra, says he was shocked by testimony from the university sector at Australia's royal commission on antisemitism. According to The Guardian, Shorten said the evidence described an Australia and universities he doesn't recognise, but that those speaking up left no excuse to ignore what they revealed. He argued that once people cover their faces to avoid identification or confront others at their individual offices, they have crossed a line from protest into what he called bullying and intimidation.
