Can batteries save the EU's wasted renewable energy?

The European Union is moving to address a challenge of the renewable energy era: capturing and storing all the solar and wind electricity being generated. Per Euronews, the EU signed its first major agreement on energy storage in June, putting batteries at the center of that plan. The technology is ready and becoming cheaper, but significant obstacles remain — market rules, grid infrastructure delays, industrial policy, and competition for the raw materials batteries need.
