Per the Economic Policy Institute, tripling US union membership would give the median worker a fourteen point five percent raise—shifting one point two trillion dollars annually to workers' pockets while narrowing racial wage gaps. Union density peaked above thirty percent in the nineteen fifties but has declined steadily to just ten percent by twenty twenty-five. That decline has correlated with surging wealth inequality, according to the report.
