The chief engineer of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Alexander Yakovlev, was killed in a Ukrainian drone strike, Meduza reports, citing Rosatom head Alexei Likhachev. Likhachev said the drone struck Yakovlev's official vehicle at the boundary between the plant's industrial site and the city of Enerhodar, killing the driver as well. He called on the IAEA, the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog, to respond promptly to what he described as a tragedy. Ukraine's armed forces did not comment on the incident. Europe's largest nuclear plant has been under Russian control since March twenty twenty-two.
