Boost REM Sleep with a Wearable

health

Adafruit Blog reports on a breakthrough from researchers at the University of Texas in Austin: a soft wearable device called NEUSLeeP that can stimulate deep brain regions and monitor brain activity in real time. The research, published in Nature Communications, showed that the patch successfully boosted REM sleep in participants—the first non-invasive technique to target these deep brain regions involved in sleep. The skin-attached device could open new possibilities for treating sleep disorders and understanding sleep mechanisms in home settings.
