Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismisses Ukraine’s popular defence minister

Ukraine's President Zelenskyy has dismissed the country's defense minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, as part of a wide-ranging government reshuffle, The Guardian reports. Fedorov had served for six months and was widely credited with transforming the defense ministry and reducing corruption. Foreign partners and civil society had pleaded with Zelenskyy to retain him, but the dismissal proceeded. Fedorov announced his departure via Telegram, describing it as a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people.
