House Republicans resurrect Save America Act by adding it to spending bill

politics

The Guardian reports that House Republicans made another attempt this week to pass the Save America Act by bundling it with an unrelated spending bill; both measures passed largely along party lines. The bill would ban mail-in voting and impose new voter identification requirements. The Trump administration says it's necessary to prevent non-citizen voting and combat election fraud. Voting rights advocates, however, say there's no evidence of widespread election tampering, and warn that the bill could disenfranchise eligible voters ahead of November's midterm elections.
