Hundreds rally at Bethesda HQ to protest Xbox layoffs, and Ars was there

business

Hundreds of video game developers braved nearly one hundred degree heat on Wednesday to protest sweeping layoffs across Xbox studios. Ars Technica was on the ground in Rockville, Maryland, where the demonstration unfolded at Zenimax headquarters—one of five coordinated rallies organized by Zenimax Workers United and the Communication Workers of America. Protests also took place at company offices in Texas, California, and Montreal. Attendees held signs including 'Our players deserve better' and 'Layoffs... layoffs never change,' a wry reference to Bethesda's Fallout franchise. Union organizers told Ars that development and quality assurance teams have been decimated by recent cuts, and workers are making clear: they won't accept further reductions.
