Common constipation drug may help clear depression brain fog

An existing constipation medication may have a surprising secondary benefit: clearing the brain fog that lingers after depression. Per ScienceDaily, a small clinical trial found that prucalopride—when taken for about a week—helped people with a depression history perform better on tests of memory, attention, and thinking speed compared to a placebo group. The drug acts on serotonin receptors in both the gut and the brain, and researchers observed no significant side effects.
