Chromatography as Art
science
Hackaday reports that chromatography—a chemistry technique that separates mixtures using paper or powder—is being transformed into art. An artist known as Suchir2004 discovered that when black ink meets water on filter paper, it separates into component pigments, creating unexpected and beautiful patterns, including butterfly-like images. The process is straightforward enough for a classroom project or home experiment: just a sketch pen, paper, a coffee filter, a glue stick, and a few other household items. It's a perfect bridge between art and science, and while it makes striking visuals, it also has practical applications—the same technique can measure caffeine content in your morning brew.
