US's ICE faces fresh backlash over anti-immigration operations
politics
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been ordered to pause most traffic stops following two fatal shootings, France 24 reports. Tom Homan, described as Donald Trump's border tsar, called the move a temporary pause and denied it was a policy change. Then on July 15, Trump appeared to undercut his own agency, saying traffic controls should continue. The backlash is playing out on the ground in Maine, where anti-ICE protests have persisted after a twenty-five-year-old Colombian man was fatally shot two days earlier.
