A week of strikes shatters hope of a lasting US-Iran peace deal

The United States resumed its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, firing on a ship attempting to pass through. Iran responded with strikes against US allies in the region, including Jordan, where projectiles believed to be of Iranian origin were detected. With military tensions escalating, diplomatic hopes have effectively dimmed.
