Ebola 'spreading faster than any previous outbreak' in DR Congo, WHO warns

world

The World Health Organization is warning that an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is spreading faster than any before it. France 24 reports that more than two thousand confirmed cases and seven hundred ninety-six deaths have been recorded in just two months. Health officials say the rapid spread is being compounded by the lack of an approved vaccine for this strain of the virus and by ongoing conflict in the country, both of which are hampering efforts to contain the epidemic. Ebola is a severe, often fatal viral disease spread through contact with bodily fluids.
