White House teleprompter operator investigated over alleged trades on Trump speeches
politics
On Thursday, Axios reported that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission is investigating whether a White House teleprompter operator profited from advance knowledge of President Trump's prepared speeches. Gabriel Perez allegedly placed bets on the prediction market Kalshi based on what he knew would be in the president's remarks—including the State of the Union in February. He won more than one hundred thousand dollars on such trades, according to sources. Kalshi's enforcement team flagged the activity and froze his account, and the CFTC is discussing a potential settlement that could require Perez to return those profits.
