Largest landlord in the US accused of civil rights violations

business

The Guardian reports that Greystar, the largest apartment owner and manager in the United States, faces civil rights complaints in seven jurisdictions. The company is accused of systematically refusing to accept federal housing choice vouchers, known as Section eight, in places where landlords are required to accept them. Complaints filed this week allege one hundred fourteen violations of fair housing laws in California, Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington DC. These vouchers enable low-income tenants to access rental housing.
