ICE says all its offices will have body cams in 60 days

politics

Half of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement field offices now have body cameras for agents, with the rest expected to get them within sixty days, according to the Department of Homeland Security. The accelerated rollout follows several fatal incidents involving ICE agents this year, including shootings in Minneapolis in February and more recently in Texas and Maine. Congress appropriated twenty million dollars specifically for the camera program in April. However, critics including Representative Sylvia Garcia of Texas argue the delays remain unacceptable and reject DHS's claim that federal shutdowns slowed the effort, since the agency received dedicated funding for this purpose.
