Russia won’t let opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin run for parliament. Now it won’t let him leave the country, either.

Per Meduza, Russian opposition politician Boris Nadezhdin says he's been barred from leaving the country—a restriction he discovered through Russia's government services portal. He faces administrative charges tied to a link on his social media showing a photograph of Alexei Navalny, and was detained before being released pending a court appearance. He had announced his candidacy for Russia's State Duma in September elections, but the government added him to a "foreign agents" registry that bars him from running. If convicted on the administrative charge, he could face an additional one-year ban from seeking office. Nadezhdin told his followers the travel ban is unlawful, and his defense attorneys are working to appeal it.
