Oryol ends ‘odd-even’ gasoline rationing, becoming first region in Russia to lift its fuel limits
world
Oryol, a region in western Russia, has become the first to lift its 'odd-even' fuel rationing system, per Meduza. The region introduced the system on July fourth to prevent panic buying during a fuel shortage, and after reporting no gas station lines for more than a week, Governor Andrei Klychkov says it's achieved its purpose. Drivers still face limits — thirty liters in cities, fifty on highways — but the odd-even restrictions based on license plate numbers are gone. At least eight Russian regions imposed similar rationing after Ukrainian strikes on oil infrastructure knocked out an estimated forty percent of Russia's refining capacity in mid-June.
