The Guardian reports that Australia's Bureau of Meteorology says a developing El Niño could become the strongest on record. Already locked in place across the Pacific, the climate phenomenon is linked to record global temperatures. Most Australian capital cities face at least an eighty percent chance of unusually warm and dry spring conditions. Climatologists are watching the system with increasing alarm.
