Sinkhole on Sunset Boulevard: broken water pipe floods LA-area hotspot

A century-old water main ruptured beneath West Hollywood early Thursday, bursting through Sunset Boulevard. The Guardian reports the 36-inch steel pipe sent water cascading across the street, created a sinkhole, and left local metro buses partially submerged in muddy water. Several major roads were forced to close.
