5 Interesting Learnings from Zoom at ~$5 Billion in ARR: Modestly Re-Accelerating Growth, Real AI Monetization, a $27B Market Cap, and a 25x Anthropic Windfall
saas
Zoom, once dismissed as a COVID one-hit wonder, is climbing back to growth. Per SaaStr, the company reported a five billion dollar annual revenue run-rate this quarter, with revenues up five point five percent year-over-year. The turnaround is driven by enterprise: enterprise customers now represent sixty-one percent of revenue and are growing at seven point two percent, while the company's profitability has become almost absurd—forty point one percent operating margins and five hundred million dollars in free cash flow in a single quarter. But here's the kicker: in May twenty twenty-three, Zoom invested fifty-one million dollars in Anthropic for access to Claude. That stake is now valued at one point two-seven billion dollars, a roughly twenty-five-times return in under three years—and analysts estimate it could ultimately be worth two to four billion dollars.
