As Russian missiles and drones pound Kyiv, the EU targets the conglomerate that builds the guidance systems for both

world

The European Union has sanctioned ABS Electro and five companies within the group in response to Russian strikes on Kyiv, according to Meduza. The measures target Irina Kharisova, chair of the board, and the conglomerate's enterprises. ABS Electro manufactures electronic components—including radio-electronics—used in Shahed and Geran drones, and develops control systems for Russia's energy sector, which generates significant revenue for the Russian budget. VNIIR-Progress, the group's core enterprise, produces navigation modules for drones and missiles; its main plant in Cheboksary has been repeatedly hit by Ukrainian strikes. The sanctions represent the EU targeting the supply chain behind Russia's military campaign against Kyiv—the guidance systems, electronic components, and industrial infrastructure that power these strikes.
