The Guardian reports that a self-styled "master yachtsman" who spent more than two decades on the run has been captured on a sailboat off the New Jersey coast. Ronald Fischer, seventy, fled a Rhode Island sexual assault trial in 2005 and was convicted and sentenced to life in his absence, after reportedly telling his lawyer he intended to enjoy life in another country. State police, who had counted him among Rhode Island's most wanted fugitives, said he was arrested on Thursday. His case had been featured repeatedly over the years on the true-crime program America's Most Wanted.
