Conservative MP Patrick Spencer cleared of sexual assault

A Conservative MP has been cleared of sexually assaulting two women at a private members' club in London. The Guardian reports that Patrick Spencer, who represents Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, was found not guilty over an incident at the Groucho Club in August twenty twenty-three. He had been seen on camera coming up behind the two women and putting his arms around them, but told the court he simply wanted to give them a hug. The alleged incident took place less than a year before Spencer was elected to his seat.
