Maine ICE agent linked to fatal shooting has history of domestic violence accusations

politics

The 19th reports that the ICE officer identified in the fatal shooting of a Colombian immigrant in Maine on Monday had a documented history of domestic violence. According to the outlet, David Brouillette had been accused by two former wives of verbal and physical abuse recorded in the state's family court system — including an allegation that he once threw boiling water at an ex-wife while she held their child, and a voicemail in which he suggested women in her family should die. Twenty-five-year-old Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was killed while sitting in his car with his wife and daughter. Family members say Brouillette told them he was hired by ICE late last year. The case is raising questions about the agency's hiring and background-check practices as it rapidly expands its ranks to carry out President Trump's mass deportation agenda.
