Queens Pride in Queens, New York

A seven-story mural is brightening Queens Boulevard in New York, Atlas Obscura is reporting. Sonny 'Sundancer' Behan created the piece, which depicts a mother lion and her cub on a shimmering surface. The artwork covers the Lionheart Complex, an eight-story transitional apartment building that opened in twenty twenty-four with eighty-eight units, a daycare, and a community center — some units are specially designed for residents with mobility, hearing, or visual impairments. Completing the mural required a month of work using a cherry picker due to its height and proximity to neighboring buildings. The striking installation has already inspired other local organizations to consider adding their own murals to the Queens streetscape.
