Juez exige que los inmigrantes de Adelanto reciban agua potable y atención médica

A federal judge has ordered major changes at an ICE detention center in Southern California, CalMatters reports. Judge Sunshine Suzanne Sykes issued a preliminary injunction on Thursday requiring immigration officials at the Adelanto Processing Center in San Bernardino County to provide detainees with clean drinking water and adequate medical care, among other basic conditions. She found the detainees were likely to prevail on their claim that conditions there violate the Fifth Amendment's protection against inhumane confinement. The lawsuit was filed after two men died at the facility within weeks of each other last fall, and the court has now given the federal government fourteen days to develop a plan addressing detainees' medical and disability needs.
