Cuban dissident artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara cleared to travel to US

Cuban dissident artist Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, designated a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International, has been cleared to travel to the United States. The Guardian reports that Otero Alcántara was released from a five-year prison term after his two thousand twenty-two conviction for insulting national symbols, contempt, and disturbing public order. His whereabouts had been unknown since his release, but the travel clearance now opens the possibility of leaving the island.
