The Growing Crescent of Mars as NASA’s Psyche Mission Approaches

NASA News reports that the Psyche spacecraft captured striking images as it approached Mars for a gravity assist in May. Over two weeks—from May second through the fifteenth—Mars appeared to grow from a thin crescent, lit by sunlight from the side, to a full disk filling the spacecraft's view. NASA compiled these images into a time-lapse showing the entire encounter as Psyche drew near.
