Young people say doctors missing signs of bowel cancer

health

A young Australian woman says doctors dismissed her symptoms as too minor for someone her age, only for them to turn out to be bowel cancer. ABC News reports that Georgie Cauchi, then in her twenties, had blood in her stool, constant pain, and trouble even getting out of bed, but was repeatedly told she was too young for the disease. By the time it was finally diagnosed several years later, the tumour had grown large enough to block her entire bowel. Her account adds to warnings from young patients who feel early signs of the illness are being missed.
