Using Solar Air Heating to Dry Clothes
tech
Hackaday reports on a solar thermal heating retrofit that just cut clothes dryer power consumption by more than ten times. An engineer replaced the dryer's electric heater with heated air from solar panels, and the system dried a test load completely in one hour—using electricity only to spin the drum. These systems could support off-grid homes, heat greenhouses, dry crops, or reduce strain on grids reliant on resistive heating.
