The Solgrylle at the Blacksmith's Bridge in Aarhus, Denmark
other
The Blacksmith's Bridge in Aarhus, Denmark, built in nineteen eleven, features eight stone relief figures in a rather compromising position, per Atlas Obscura. These creatures are known as solgryller in Danish folklore, associated with the summer solstice. Folklore holds that the sun actually pauses in the sky for precisely as long as it takes one to finish its business. The figures were repainted in a twenty twenty-five renovation to blend into the bridge's stonework, making them less conspicuous—though certainly no less bizarre once spotted.
