Thick smoke from these fires has created hazardous air quality across parts of Canada and several U.S. states including Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, and New York—raising concerns ahead of Sunday's World Cup final at an open-air stadium in New Jersey. Donald Trump has blamed Canada for its forest management and threatened additional tariffs in response.
