Spidery Drone Goes Near-invisible By Spinning Really, Really Fast

tech

Per Hackaday, researchers have discovered something striking: when a small spindly-framed drone spins at high speed, it becomes nearly invisible. The prototype, called the Phantom Twist, ditches traditional wings for a downward-angled motor that generates lift and maintains altitude through rapid rotation and a sophisticated control system. A hand launcher spins the device up to speed before release. The tradeoff: it requires precise balance and must stay in constant high-speed rotation to remain stable.
