According to Boing Boing, knitters believe in a peculiar phenomenon called the sweater curse: knitting a hand-made sweater for your romantic partner will doom the relationship, sometimes before you've finished the project. A two-thousand-five poll of knitters offers some data on this superstition: fifteen percent claimed they'd personally encountered the curse, and forty-one percent said they took it seriously as a real possibility.
