According to Variety, the event took place amid hazardous air quality conditions from Canadian wildfires—smoke had rendered the sky a hazy orange and made the air itself caustic enough to irritate eyes. For audiences venturing out, at least staying sheltered inside a theater for the entire night solved the problem of when to go outside.
