OPFS + Pyodide test harness
dev_tools
Simon Willison has published a test harness for combining two emerging web technologies: OPFS—the Origin Private File System—and Pyodide, which runs Python in the browser. The goal? Seeing whether Datasette Lite, a Python-based database application that runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, can edit persistent SQLite files stored locally on your computer. Willison built an interactive playground using Claude Code for web to experiment with the combination across different browsers. It's an early look at the possibility of running and persisting Python databases entirely client-side, without needing a server.
