As mosquito ranges expand, better monitoring is key to preventing disease

Climate change is warming and moistening historically temperate regions, expanding mosquito ranges northward—along with any diseases they carry. Connecticut's statewide mosquito monitoring program, per Ars Technica, has detected fifty-four species, including the invasive Asian tiger mosquito, which can transmit dengue and Zika. Once confined to hot, humid climates farther south, this species has been steadily moving north.
