An AWS bug turned a 5-cent bill into $2.5 billion

Boing Boing reports that an AWS customer's monthly bill skyrocketed from five cents to two point five billion dollars. The massive charge appeared on July seventeenth, attached to a single S3 storage bucket left untouched since twenty twenty-three and never made public. The extreme discrepancy suggests a significant billing system error.
