A YouTuber named Matt, who runs the channel DIY Perks, shows that discarded laptops often yield surprisingly capable parts—motherboards with thirty-two gigabytes of RAM soldered on, integrated graphics, and solid processors—for far less than you'd pay new. The trick is the reverse engineering: he fabricated a single-pin ribbon cable to replicate the power button on a non-starting laptop. He's also extracting intact LCD panels from broken iMacs, each with better than four-K resolution, saving otherwise-discarded equipment.
