U.S. military finds unidentified service member's remains after Iran attack in Jordan

world

U.S. Central Command says forces have recovered the remains of an unidentified service member near the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, where two American troops were killed when at least two Iranian ballistic missiles struck the base on Friday. Axios reports the base hosts U.S. troops and fighter jets, and that a second service member was wounded with a minor injury. CENTCOM said the remains were found after a thorough search and that verification is still underway, adding that it is withholding the identities of the missing and fallen out of respect for families going through the notification process. The command also disclosed that an American service member was killed Saturday in northern Iraq during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. Together, the disclosures bring the number of U.S. service members killed in the conflict to eighteen.
