Roscosmos institute scientist arrested in Moscow on treason charges

world

A Moscow court has arrested Maxim Kravchuk, a thirty-five-year-old aerodynamics specialist at a Roscosmos research institute, on treason charges, Meduza reports. He was detained on June twenty-fourth, though case details remain classified. Independent investigators found he traveled to Ukraine twice between two thousand sixteen and two thousand nineteen. Kravchuk is at least the fourth scientist from the same institute facing treason charges since two thousand nineteen—part of a broader pattern: seven scientists working in Russia's defense sector have been prosecuted since the Ukraine war began.
