Confusion swirls on source of diarrhea outbreak, but it’s still Taylor Farms
health
Per Ars Technica, federal health officials reaffirmed on Monday that shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms remains the source of Cyclospora, the parasite behind a multi-state outbreak of severe diarrhea. Confusion had swirled over the weekend after a false positive test from the Food and Drug Administration, which Taylor Farms celebrated. The FDA and CDC announced Friday that traceback investigations—tracking backward from sick individuals through the food supply chain—repeatedly pointed to lettuce grown in Central Mexico and distributed by Taylor Farms. While officials stand by the link, the outbreak's full scope remains unclear, partly because Taylor Farms has provided only vague information about the recall.
