Coffee may protect your heart but energy drinks could harm it

A new American Heart Association review, per ScienceDaily, offers reassuring news for coffee drinkers. Up to four hundred milligrams of caffeine a day—roughly three to five cups of regular black coffee—appears safe and may even lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, heart failure, and type two diabetes. The caveat: highly concentrated energy drinks and shots work the opposite way, sharply raising blood pressure and triggering irregular heart rhythms.
