Per Ars Technica, columnist Lee Hutchinson tried to find something that shouldn't be hard to find: a self-setting bedside clock. After power flickers and Daylight Saving Time forced him to manually adjust his clock yet again, he realized that a clock with automatic DST, perfect accuracy, a red seven-segment display, and no privacy-invading apps required should exist — but apparently doesn't. It's a curious gap in consumer technology: a problem we've had the better part of a century to solve.
