British-born man living in US since age of nine held by ICE under threat of deportation

A British-born man who has lived in the United States since he was nine years old is being held in an ICE detention facility under threat of deportation. The Guardian reports that Connor Read, twenty-nine, was detained by immigration agents on the third of June after being invited to a green card interview in Tampa, Florida, and has now been held for more than a month and a half. According to the paper, he was separated from his wife, Jaelin, and their three-year-old twin sons, Ryder and Ozzie. ICE, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, is the federal agency that carries out deportations. His case, reported on Friday, adds to a growing number of long-term residents caught up in detention during routine immigration appointments.
